Located at 29 Purchase St, Rye, NY 10580, Oko Rye operates as a japanese serving Rye in New York. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In Rye, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across New York run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.
Hours are published for 2 days a week. On most of those days it is open 5β10:30 PM. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Oko Rye at (914) 481-8660; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. More information is available on its website, okokitchen.com.
On Google it holds a rating of 4.4 out of 5 from 137 reviews, which is a strong result for a japanese in Rye and suggests consistent service.
Rye is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Rye follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Had an early dinner around 5pm Def wished they offered a happy hour. The 5 pieces of nigiri is good for $40 if you get a few other small things. The old fashioned was good and paired great with the ube soft serve. A yuzu jasmine cocktail or cocktail would be good or even a jasmine soft serve. Will be back the next business trip for sure. Bartender was also super chill. Didn't really care for the tuna crispy thing but the rest of the nigiri was Pristine

I was able to try Oko over a rainy weekend and wanted to call out that I had to make this reservation with 3 weeks notice since itβs been booked out. Please reserve your spot if you are thinking of visiting. Upon entering youβll notice; itβs a small space but has an inviting bar area. We chose table seating but realized weβd be just as happy watching sushi chefs perform in the kitchen which is fully exposed for nigiri and hand roll making. We ordered the cabbage salad, chef selection temaki hand rolls, chef selection robata, pork katsu sando and chef selection omakese. Everything was a 10/10. All dishes had flavor and uniqueness to them even if they were pre selected. If I could go back Iβd stick to the spicy bluefin tuna hand roll and the hirame nigiri. They were simply the most flavorful and balanced options when comparing it to all other chef selections. We had a great server that made sure we never waited for waiter and offered us dessert options that also didnβt disappoint. We ordered the matcha Kit Kat, oko-cookie and cream puff. Our favorite was the Kit Kat since it was so unique and had better texture than a normal Kit Kat bar. Overall, it was a great dinner. Iβd recommend

If you find yourself wandering through Rye and craving a culinary experience that feels both sophisticated and soul-warming, Oko is the absolute gold standard for modern Japanese fare. The atmosphere strikes that perfect balance between minimalist chic and neighborhood warmth, making it an ideal spot for a curated dinner that never feels stuffy. βThe craftsmanship behind each piece of scallop nigiri is evident in the way the flavors are balanced, providing a clean yet incredibly rich profile that lingers just long enough on the palate. It is rare to find seafood handled with such reverence, where the natural brininess of the scallop is elevated rather than masked by unnecessary garnishes. Each bite feels like a celebratory nod to traditional techniques reimagined for a contemporary audience, and it is honestly worth the trip to Rye for this dish alone. Oko delivers an unforgettable bite that will have you planning your return before the check even hits the table.

Cozy and intimate place. It looks like it seats 50 people including bar area. I want to give it a 3.5 star, but it is a place worth going. Open kitchen. Itβs clean. Food was good. Some dishes better than others. We like the sake. The appetizer was good - blister shishito peppers - The nigiri was good - the sushi rice and pairing with the fish was a good combo. Robata was good. Salmon and pear was nicely done and paired together, wagyu beef was a little tough, mushroom and eggplant was ok. The beef and veggie- needed the pairing sauce. Temaki/ hand roll, we had 3 rolls salmon, tuna and scallops. They were ok. The fish was overly sauced. The crispy rice - beef and scallop. Typically my favorite, but the rice was overly crispy, made it too chewy.
